Epic Greatest

In Ultimate, we have what’s called “The Greatest”.

Maybe since it doesn’t happen very often or that it is a pretty spectacular play when it does happen, it’s something that when executed properly is rather impressive.

So, “The Greatest” occurs when the disc is out of bounds (not within the lines of the field), the receiver jumps out of bounds to grabĀ  and throw it back onto the playing field where one of your teammates catches it.

“The Greatest” is awesome for several reasons:

  • The coordination required to jump out of bounds from inbounds
  • while in the air, you catch it and then
  • you throw the disc that you just caught (mostly randomly but none the less caught by a team mate)
